Who are we?

We are Joris and Carola van Dijk.

In 2020 we got the opportunity to buy our current house from the municipality of Utrecht. The house was in dire need of renovation, after 10 years of vacancy and anti-squatting there was a lot of backlog. With the help of some professionals, we did the entire renovation ourselves. Joris is very handy and worked on the renovation every day with a lot of love and energy. We insulated the entire roof from the inside, the floors were opened up and replaced, all 26 window frames were replaced. Actually, only the walls remained. We completely rebuilt the detached garage into a bed and breakfast while retaining the old details such as the authentic beams.

After more than 1.5 years of renovation, B&B Het Dijkje will open its doors in June 2022. We look forward to welcoming people to this unique place.

Carola flew for 25 years as a stewardess at KLM and feels comfortable in the role of hostess. She also enjoys organizing events and teaches yoga in the adjacent meeting and workshop space at Het Dijkje.
